About me and my practice
I came to Counselling late in life. Having previously worked as a GPO Telephonist, Supervisor and Training Instructor. After leaving to raise my family I resumed my career as Marketing Executive and finally Manager of a busy Holiday Park.
Having taken early retirement I then went back to college for 5 years to train as a counsellor.
After working with Cardiff Mind for a while I opened my private practice.

Both at Mind and in Private Practice I was always surprised at the power of counselling.
Having clients from all walks of life teenagers /young mums, business clients and OAPs it is amazing to see how people change and take control of their lives.
We are all born unique but our experiences can change how we live our lives. Most people are not who they want to be but who they think they should be.
From minor issues to major trauma if your life is not what you want it to be seek help you will be amazed how different your life can be.
I used to work Face to Face in my lovely counselling room, but Covid changed all that and I moved to online work. I now work online exclusively as it has so many benefits. Clients do not have to travel and they dont need to live locally. The experience is more personal as the client is in the place of their choice. Just me and the client.
I adore my work my only regret is that I didnt train earlier. But then my work career has given me more understanding of the experiences some clients have.
You cannot control what life throws at you but you can control how you deal with it.
If there is something bothering you however small you owe it to yourself to sort it.
You will be amazed at how easy it is to change.
I also offer Lifestyle sessions for companies where the company pay for their staff to have a few sessions to discuss confidentially anything that is causing a problem at work.
Experience
Having qualified in Person Centred Counselling I initially worked my placement at Cardiff Mind. I then completed a Diploma in CBT and continued in Mind in a paid capacity as an Integrative Counsellor using PCT and CBT. This combination worked well for Stress and Anxiety.
I then became interested in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) which helps you retrain your brain to think differently. Using elements of this in my practice has been hugely successful. (and brings an element of fun to the session) This helps with confidence issues and overcoming fear of failure. I have helped many clients who struggle with public speaking, giving presentations or just attending business meetings. This is a fun way to overcome your fear!
Working a lot with business clients I became aware of another need and this was for Solution Focussed Therapy. Sometimes in business (and in life) stress can stop you achieving what you want. This breaks it down to what do you need and how can you get there. It gives clarity in a stressful situation.
I have also trained in REWIND TRAUMA THERAPY.
If you have suffered a Trauma of any kind this memory sits in the Reception area of the brain waiting to be triggered time and time again.
Rewind Trauma Therapy moves the memory from the Reception area of the brain to the normal memory bank. This usually only requires a few sessions. I also use other therapies to treat trauma depending on the client and the experience everyone is unique and the therapy must suit the client.
My work is varied with age/type/issues. Along the way if Ive identified a need Ive trained in it. This now enables me tailor the counselling to the client. Giving the best possible counselling experience.
